any recommendations? ?

cheers!

Unfortunately no recommendations but to be honest you'll find that it will cost more than they're worth to extract photos (hundreds of pounds)

* unless they're really valuable, in which case go for it

If they are really important photos then the only company I can recommend are Kroll Ontrack (recovered 99% of data for a customer)

http://www.krollontrack.co.uk/

They used to charge about £50 or so to JUST examine your drive and send you a report on what can be recovered.

IF and only if you want to proceed and have them recover your data it was about £500. Your recover data is returned to you on an encrypted external drive. It will take several weeks
(if your minted a week but may cost you £1000+)

Other companies have a habit of saying £300 or so then sorry can't get your data back, oh and they KEEP your drive. :(

Ontrack have several locations in the UK and are worldwide. They did recover data from space shuttle disaster.

There are lots of other (normally cheaper) companies out there but a lot will get less or worse nothing back and you may still have to pay hundreds and you don't get your drive BACK unless you pay them to reassemble it.
At least with Ontrack if they say they can't recover much or you can't get back what you need it only costs £50 or so.

If you do decide to go for someone cheaper be careful as some use addresses as a drop point for example:
DO NOT use Advanced Data Recovery Kingsway Holborn, WC2B 6AA they ARE cowboys. They use this address as a courier drop and are rubbish. Watchdog should pay them a visit.
