HDD Defrag

I'm wondering what's the best software to defrag an HDD as I seen posts online that Windows defrag doesn't rearrange data properly/fully?

defraggler. From Piriform. Same company that makes Ccleaner and other stuff.

I like Defraggler too.

Before running it, I'd do the following..

Run..

CCleaner (I'd skip the registry cleaner part of it)
Disk Cleanup (part of Windows)
Treesize Free (to manually find any large folders/files that you can get rid of)

Also remove old System Restore points.

I've not used any HDD Defrag software for years.....never seemed to make any difference

The difference is more pronounced on low end hardware.

Is there any point to defrag a drive that's used just for media? Ie no OS.

yeah,it still fragments as you use it,just re arranges it so it can access the data faster (I think)

I used to use O&O Defrag, always worked well. As for defragging media drives I guess it depends on how often you are adding stuff/taking stuff off it.

Not really, I never bother. I just use Defraggler to keep my Steam games on my HDD in order.
