I bought a Samsung F1 1Tb about a month ago, recently i have had some read/write errors so tryed to run chkdsk on it, it gets to around 3/4 the way through and doesn`t progress any further.

i have tryed to run the samsung disk utility but cant get it to boot (run out of memory errors as well as others) i read about a program called HDAT2 which i can boot from not in vmware with the hdd connected to a USB), although to test for surface errors it will take about 60 days or so to get through the Tb.

does anyone know of a utility that would be acceptable to samsung/rexo for an RMA but wont take an eternity

or how to get the samsung utility to work, a google didn`t show any answers

The fact that you can't get the Samsung utility to run could be pointing to some other underlying problem.

I’d perform a memory test before progressing and further.

i`ve tryed running it on 4 different computers and vmware, a google search showed lots of others with the same problem with no obvious solution i could find

common problem hence why i dont use the 334gb platter samsung drives, its to do with samsung comming out too early with the high density platters without proper testing on them, thats why if i buy a samsung drive i stick to the 250gb platter ones.

as mentioned above all you can do is run hdtune or something to see the smart info and if its nackered be prepared to do an rma with rexo.
