hdd dieing?

hi all,
just had a nasty windows install with files not copying accross and having to retry them, did this on my dvd and cd drive! then when i fianlly get one working i try to install games only to get the same problems.
now i have narrowed this down to two things:
-hard drive
-dvd drive or cd drive

anyone else had this problem, or anyone got any idea what part is not functioning correctly, its really frustrating :(

my hardware is what is listed in my sig, the hdd is a sata2 drive by samsung
 
nope not yet ive installed the update thing from asus but it wont find one automaticly, gonna have to download it manually :(
 
ok changed the cables still getting the same prob.
where do you think i should head next? surely both the drive cannot have died?
i'm thinking hdd?
could it be the motherboard?
is it worth plugging it into the secondary ide channel on the mobo?

thanks it is the memory got loads of failed to copy errors, annoyed but corsairs lifetime warranty is usefull in this case :D
right then time to inform ocuk,
at least i wont need to formatt either unless you would recommend it?

like loads before it really even got started(like had done 0%), oh well lifetime warranty so all is good
