HDD error

Every time my mams laptop boots up it gives her a error about her HDD being damaged/faulty it does sound like the HDD is on its way out but its never been banged about and isnt very old, is there any sort of software you can get to test the HDD? The sound it makes is like a Dull clicking noise.

Backup important data as soon as possible. What make is the drive?

yeah i will do, thankfully it doesn't have a lot on atm as i've just installed Windows 8, I might not even have to back anything up as i'm sure she just uses it for facebook lol

Does she have bookmarks on her internet browser? That's the only thing I ever need to save from my Windows drive. Export them to file.

She uses Google Chrome, that saves all the bookmarks anyways

You could attempt to clone the drive using Macrium Reflect, just in case you forget something.
