My WD velocity raptor has just failed on me, im looking for another hard disk now and need help . I use this drive for all my applications and games and scratch drive, and use a SSD just for my OS. The drive doesnt need to be big anything around the 250GB mark but i want it to be fast. But dont want an SSD as there is a lot of info read/deleted to the drive

Any ideas / suggestions ?

i thought that they degrade over the number of writes as i want to use it for applications and scratch drive and leave just the OS on the SSD

Older SSD's had that issue, currently if you go for something like a Samsung EVO SSD, you will never get to the stage were you're experiencing meaningful degradation on the drive, I think Anandtech did a test of some ridiculous setup something like 20TB read/write per day for a year and the drives had barely started to degrade, I'll try and find the link.

Not the exact link but gives you some sort of idea : http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/417...-with-final-conclusion-final-update-20-6-2013

Basically, in the time it took you to degrade an SSD to the point it's unusable, SSD's will be so cheap £/GB it won't matter.
