HDD for simple backup

My old man is absolutely useless when it comes to computers and with a couple of nasty virsuses floating around the net I thought it might be worth setting something up for him that he can plug in, backup and remove which would mean his photos etc are safe. The trouble is that it needs to be incredibly simple or he will break it as he thinks he is the next Bill Gates and meddles with everything!

Is there a HDD that offers a simple plug in and press a button backup? I can configure what to backup etc and ideally have a password on the management console so he cant log on and change stuff but not the end of the world if not.
