Hdd from tv recorder!

Hey all managed to grab a Samsung sp1644n/omd p80m
out of my tv recorder (tivo)
i believe its a IDE Hdd its 160gb and im looking at building my first budget build,
i have a GA-ma720-us3 mobo
would this work?
just would save me a couple of pounds on buying a new hdd

Yes just reformat it and way you go... I have 2 from my thomson topup tv boxes

Sorry to be a pain, would the dvd drive work? from the recorder?

Maybe not such a good idea.

Data HD's report errors immediately, because a single bit could be catastrophic.
AV HD's are more lenient with erros. A single bit would appear as an off colour pixel or as a sound glitch which would probably be cleaned up by the AV device anyway.
