HDD Help...

Hi guys,

Building a new system, but using some parts from my current system. I want to buy another hdd but not sure what type/make I should go for...

I'm looking at buying another SATA HDD that can go along side my current maxtor hdd. Would I have problems if I decided to go with another make of HDD? And, is there any good performing drives at the minute?

I've read somewhere that Western Digital Caviar SE16 750GB SATA-II 16MB Cache are pretty good, or all hdds are pretty much the same now days?

Get the Samsung F1, they're extremely fast and quiet as they only have 1 platter.

You won't have any problem running different makes of hard drives in your computer.

Just to clarify, it's the 320GB model (HD322HJ) that has the single platter. The model linked is the 750GB drive which has 3 x 250GB platters. Still fast though, and is more like the kinda size you're looking for?

Yeah, 750GB is the size. Is the HDD still quiet tho?

Oh, my bad. I assumed all F1s had single platters.
