HDD in external box

Just a quick one - there any problem with the sudden power loss these drives get from switching off the power to the external box?
Sure they built to cope with it easilly but a wee bit of reasurance would be good

They're only a bog standard hard-drive in a cheap case, with the USB>IDE interface tucked away.

Like every hard-drive, if you power it up and down a lot then don't expect it to last too long.

Most computers are turned on twice a day. I imagine the external HD would be far more than this.
