had a phone call from a mate who said his HDD is making funny noises and computer wouldn't fire up and was my old PC for sale- I asked if he had ever cleaned PC out and answer was no - He has a metal fabrication business and has lost one smart phone to minute metal particles in air - So told him to take side off and blow it all out to start with - remove HD connectors and make sure they are clean.
Anyway - if it is HDD knackered would it be drive part or what - Can you remove disc itself and put it in a spare drive if they are same make. - If we can't get it spinning he has lost a lot of CAD drawings.
I did ask if he backed things up - I work with metal not computers - fair enough.
