HDD missing and can't assign a letter

I've just been given a Samsung M3 to copy some files to and it doesn't work correctly in Windows... is this some Apple trickery as the owner has a Mac?

In Computer Management it appears thus -

There are no right click options.. is it me or?

Most likely it's due to being formatted as HFS+ (or whatever file system OSX uses), similar to how OSX system's can't natively write to NTFS drives.

Quick option here is to get a Ubuntu disk and boot from that, should be able to read/write to all partitions types.
