HDD PCB Swap out

My mom plugged the wrong power source in to her external HDD, I've transferred the drive to my PC and it does not power up.

If I buy the same model HDD can I swap the PCBs to transfer the data or just use the drive as is?

There is always a chance, i've heard of people doing it and it working.

It does work but not 100%. I tried it and went through 5 different HD'#s till i got a matching PCB

I had this happen on a Seagate drive. I found somewhere in america that sold PCB's and they had one that was exactly the same, so I fitted it and the drive has been fine for the past 18 months
