I recently formatted my PC not long ago, my HDD is currently 160GB but ever since i did the format, it always shows up as 127 GB even on windows setup when i delete all my partitions etc, what could be wrong if the total size is shown a lot lower that its supposed to be??

Have you reinstalled with a version pre SP1??

I had this problem and had to use partition magic to merge partitions after installing all windows updates. I think it was something to do with windows not having support for large disks pre SP1.

I havnt got any service pack on

if i was you i would use the hard drive tools from the manufacturer ie western digital because that will set the hard drive up for its max cappacity.

you can find the that most manufactureers will have a dos version so windows will see the full drive

thats why, it will only say max of 136gb (ish) before sp1

even though it doesnt show my full capacity because im on no Service Pack,
Say if my total size says 130, wen its supposed to be 160 GB , could i actually go over that 130 gb total size? seeing as its the incorrect total size? or not
