So i have two hdd, my main hdd with windows and most programs on, then my slave hdd that has pretty much everything on, photos, videos, music, work, any other data. So heres the problem....

Noticed my gfx card was at 100 degrees  , so thought i would take it out and clean out fan/hs. Turned off the psu, turned it off at the mains. Gfx card all cleaned out, put the card back in, plugged the mains in, turned on the psu, booted up, all fine.

Go to try and access the E drive (slave hdd) and it can't be found? So i turned off the pc, checked all the connections, all plugged in correct. Booted up, the same problem. What the hell did i do? I didn't even unplug the hdd? Could it have something to do with turning the power completely off? Its the only thing i can think of, pc's are weird like that.

Im pretty sure the hdd is fine, i really can't be ****ed to take it out and try in another pc. Would resetting the cmos help? Where is information about hdds stored? I know the cmos holds info about system startup etc.

Help please :D

Thanks

Go to your HDD Manufacturers website and download their HDD utility. You may need to make yourself a bootable CD if you dont have a floppy drive. Run the utility and there should be some kind of Diagnostic tool you can use.

Run that and see what errors it comes up with. If its all clean with no errors then maybe Windows is playing silly buggers.
