Has a Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB drive from my old pc and was putting it into my new one the other day and installed into pc and it started clicking quite badly, no amount of trying different sata cable or power cable worked so in a mates pc it went and wasn't found in bios or windows there. So off to OCUK for RMA it went as I thought it was dead.

Got response today that the drive is working fine with no problems or errors so it's on the way back. So any suggestions as to what happened? I am totally at a loss to explain it.

Rest of spec is:

AMD Phenom II X2 Dual Core 555 3.20GHz
Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AMD 880G
Corsair Dominator 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9
Corasir TX 650W Power Supply

I bought another samsung from OCUK pretty much as soon as the other one "died" as thought I would raid when I got replacement back of old one and that new drive is happily running in the pc at this very moment.

Just found out about the SB850 problem which explains why didn't work in either of our PC's but why did the new drive work fine? Have they updated the drives or will I see problems with this one in the long run also?

Can anyone tell me if the newer F3's have had their firmware updated to account for this problem as the F3 drive in my pc at present seems to be working fine with the motherboard.
