I went to look at my aunties computer last week and i discovered it had a virus and a few trojan files but before the antivirus program finished the computer locked up and restarted. Now i cant get my computer to recognise the drive and i need to access some photos from the hdd so they can be backed up. The drive is a pretty old fujitsu drive about 10gig. Could the crash cause the Hdd to fail? Its still spins up but i cant get the bios to recognise it. Anyone got any ideas what i could do to retrieve or access the files?

I am presuiming you have access to another PC?

If what I would do in your situation is to put your uncle's wife's HD into a USB Caddy and recover the files that way. This is something I have done on numerours occasions.
