HDD Query

Right my computer decided to smoke out last week and im not too sure which parts it has taken with it. The PSU is definately dead as i bought a new one but its still dead!

Anyway, i want to know will my two sata HDD's still load up xp on my new motherboard and CPU.....? I only really want to access it to copy some stuff i need....? Once i have copied everything over i will do a full format

Unfortunately i dont have a spare HDD to use to copy

You might have to install SATA drivers to get them to work or possibly do a Windows repair since you are changing the motherboard and CPU but with most new motherboards, they will automatically work with SATA hard drives.

But once i have copied everything over would it be sooo much better to install a fresh set of windows?

Yes it would. If you have a 3rd drive somehwere, might be worth loading a copy onto that, then pull out anything you need from the SATA drives. I say this only because i bought all new components and my windows install failed to work at all. Lost everything
