hi i need some help choosing hdd/ssd for gaming

my spec:
cpu - intel core i5 3570k 3.40ghz @ 4.40ghz ivy bridge cpu
motherboard - GIGABYTE - Socket 1155 - GA-Z77-D3H
ram - 8gb ddr3 1600mhz dual channel
psu - ocz zs series 550w
gpu - amd radeon HD 5850 (will upgrade to AMD r9 290)
hdd - really old 200gb hard drive from del pc

should i get hybrid hdd ? or just ssd ? all i need is speed to be honest and i dont really know which one would be better. My budget is around £100 and minimum storage would be 150gb on the ssd up to 200gb

For a £100 you could get a £50 1TB HDD and a small 60-80GB SDD for your OS. I spent the same and got a 1Tb Seagate Barracuda and a 60GB OCZ SSD.

The SDD will boot the OS quicker than the HDD.

Some decent deals to be had on OCUK for SSD's at the moment.

Can I sort of hijack but I think my question fits.

If you have a smallsh SSD for your OS and a large storage HHD when you download a large game fom Steam or Origin for example can you install the game onto the HHD or do games need to be run from the OS's drive ?

Hope that makes sense.

pretty sure steam gives you option/choice on where to install games and downloads you'd just need to make a new library

Cheers for that info.

Might have to look into this, my sons PC s coming along nicely. Switching to SSD can only bea good thing.

Steam mover :) google it. Easy as pie i use a 64gb M4 and a 500GB mech drive. OS on m4 with all my windows folders moved across to the HDD except my desktop :) This is so when my machines idling on desktop with nothing open the hdd spins down as it isnt in use so less power use

Yes you can quite easily set the save location when you install games, I just have my 1Tb HDD set as the default location for steam games, but this can of course be changed depending on whether you want a certain game to be on the SSD that you use more often etc.

I have just ordered the Seagate 2TB Desktop SSHD as my gaming drive. Reviews show that it can get quite close to an SSD on game level loads. I am hoping that the way the caching works will be a good fit for my games. I have quite a few installed which eats a lot of disk space but I tend to concentrate on playing one at a time.
