HDD/SSD storage issues

Hey guys,

Right so I currently have Windows 7 installed and have Windows 8 in a VM. I am planning on installing Windows 8 properly onto my PC some way or another, either dual booting or something else. So I have just been looking at the space I have on my PC and have noticed that my OS drive was getting quite full.

I have one SSD (C:/) which is my windows drive and has all my programs etc. installed on. Then I have a HDD (E:/) which has personal files and things that take up a lot of space. This is the current status of both my drives:

And this is a picture of the folders in my HDD:

Now the thing is when I installed Windows 7 I only moved the personal folders off of my Windows SSD. So my actual user account is still on there. I am not sure if that is the right thing to have done or not, what do you guys think?

So anyway I have still been trying to make more space on my Windows drive. I have removed a few things but have some questions about some other things. These are the folders that take up the most amount of storage:

Should I move my user folder? Which will include things like AppData?

Can I do anything about the huge pagefile.sys file?

Sorry about the long post, thanks in advance for any help :)

I'm sure there are other guides, but I'm constantly recommending this one :

http://thessdreview.com/ssd-guides/optimization-guides/the-ssd-optimization-guide-2/

It suggests turning pagefile OFF, but only if you've got 4gb+ RAM (I guess you're using 8gb RAM for VM). And it adds that it is "an extremely controversial optimization", mainly to save SSD space - which is what you want.

So maybe check a few other guides too, or wait for someone more knowledgeable to reply.

Thanks for the response,

It does look like a possibility and 8GB is a large proportion of the 56GB available. Just don't know if it will have an adverse affect on my system or not.

Cheers :)
