Hey guys

I work in an IT department where we backup a lot of data onto hotswap sata disks. I need to remove the hdd's and store them safely out of office.

My question is, are there any sort of hdd storage containers besides a hdd enclosure?

I'd rather not have to stick it in a anti static bag and then cover it with foam in a cardboard box.

Where does he say he isn't backing everything up to a server?

He simply wants a container to store the hard disks he removes from the system in.

To which google isn't bringing up much. :(

I've come across

for 2 1/2" drives.

The plastic antistatic shells drives come in are good for storing drives offline, they're designed to reduce shock from falls as well. I use those in plastic cases with foam cutouts. If you look around you can find plastic ESD boxes that contain foam in the right size for HDD's.

i just find it odd that they are using physical drives for offsite storage as opposed to tapes. you drop a HDD its dead. drop a tape and it'll be ok.

We backup to tape daily and take those offsite, however we backup a huge chunk of data to hdd's aswell so that its available to access whenever we need it. However after a period of time we fill the hdd and it needs to be stored.

I'll have a look around. Thanks
