Have a Samsung Evo SSD and have programs/games/media spread across three ageing drives so looking to replace them with a single drive. What drives go well for that purpose, looking at WD not sure whether the Red series is fine for gaming etc..

Blue, black or red will be fine, its just green that can be a bit slow. I have a seagate constellation (equivalent) that I removed from a sky box as my games drive and it works flawlessly.

The red ones are for NAS really. For streaming / serving large files. They spin up differently.

I use the greens for data storage and reds for media. The greens are fine.

Yeah as mentioned:

Black: Performance Edition
Red: NAS Edition
Blue: Entry level Edition
Green: Eco Edition

A lot of the red, blue and green are 5900RPM drives, lower cache etc.

Black is lots of cache and 7200RPM.
