HDD to SSD Upgrade

Seriously considering purchasing the OCZ Vertex 3 120GB as an upgrade for my X58 system (especially with the sales this week). I realise I won't see the full speed as I only have SATA-II connections at the moment but am considering Sandy Bridge upgrade shortly so this problem would go away and I will see a significant speed increase even with SATA-II.

I have two main concerns and hopefully you'll be able to calm my worries:

1).. See lots of posts talking about firmware upgrades I assume these are applied in a similar way to BIOS upgrades?

2).. If possible I don't want to reinstall windows 7 how easy is it to transfer over your c: or boot information onto the SSD, I have a reasonable level of PC knowledge and woudl feel comfortable following instructions.

Thanks in advance for any guidance

I agree that a W7 reinstall will probably give the best results in terms of performance however a W7 reinstall is a major turn off to me a load of hassle I can do without.

Have seen instructions on other forums on how to achieve the transfer using disc imaging software like this
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/149969-ssd-install-transfer-operating-system.html

also this software mentioned in the article to complete the process automatically.
http://www.paragon-software.com/technologies/components/migrate-OS-to-SSD/

wonder if anyone had any experience or thoughts?

Also still seeing people with major downers on the OCZ Vertex 3 drive anyway so will probably wait for these issues to be resolved and the firmware releases to become less frequent.
