Hey guys,

Im back again with more information that could help to solve my COD4 lag issue.

I was playing COD4 again and i left nvidias ntune running in the background on the screen that shows resources used.

When i got the spike i quickly alt tabbed and snapped a screen shot:

The problem looks like the HDD is spiking (Brand new WD 160gb)

Any ideas on what my next move should be?

I get this on Vista X64. After a while, the HDD goes bananas for periods of ten seconds or so every so often, after which I am usually dead :). During this period it's extremely laggy, and sometimes pauses entirely for a few seconds.

I haven't bothered even looking for it as it's fairly rare and I'm hoping some kind of software update will fix it.

As it happens my HDDs are Western Digital also.

Kill System Restore, Kill indexing, Tames HDD right down, fresh install takes approx 3 days to tame down with Superfetch etc.

I should know cause Raptor X's are not nice to listen to SEEKING all day long.

"Kill System Restore, Kill indexing,"

Funnily enough i have just done that before i read your post. Lets see what its like when i get round to playing COD4 again.

Cheers

Played single player for a good few hours today with no spikes at all.

I play online for about 10 minutes and i get the same thing as what was happening before, HDD spiking.

This is really not fun anymore :(
