hi im going to be selling my F1 drives, they have been formated but im after a program that can severly wipe them so my data is unrecoverable

Is there a program that can do this on desktop or will it have to been in Dos?

I don't know of any reliable desktop ones, most will not be able to wipe the MFT etc while in Windows.

Darik's boot and nuke is a good boot disk that will safely wipe a drive.

Yes, DBAN is what is needed.

The best way I've found of using it is as part of the "Ultimate Boot CD" which has a plethora of useful utilities you can boot into such as memtest and various HDD diagnostic suites from the various manufacturers.

Another vote for killdisk, there's a free version available which only has either a single or limited patterns to write, create a bootdisk, boot up and make sure you select the correct disk :)

ive been trying for hours to to make a bootdisk for either kill disk or dban i have used both cdr and flash drive and every time it wont boot.
i have selected the correct setup in bios to boot from CD before HDD and also tryed to manually boot using F12 and selected the drive with the cdr or flash drive

i have used several programs to copy the iso from Dban and still wont work i have gone through 10 cds cannot understand what im doing wrong
i have someone that will erase the data on my 2 F1s but he wants £15 so time im pay that and sell them ill be lucky to make £35

If you download an iso use imgburn to burn it to a CD

Do you need to press a key during the boot process? Need to hit a key on my system for it to continue booting from CD.

Hi

I have a similar issue, but I thought I'd search around and find related threads instead of starting a new one.

I'm about to sell off my 17 inch vista laptop as it's far too big and bulky for my use. I want to delete all my user files and settings and some software on it,

I plan to do this by

deleting the account and opening a new admin account for the new user, and then on the new account running a wiping utility that will permanently delete the files and setting off the new computer.

Am I going about this the right way, and will it reliable wipe the data?

Thanks

Karim
