Hi,
I had a drive over a year ago that had both Sata and IDE but I don't remember which brand it was and I can't find anything similar. I want to put the hdd in a drive enclosure and use it as portable storage with the option to add it to a pc later. Does anyone know of any particular model hdd which has this option? I am looking for a 200-300gb drive.

Thanks

never ever heard of a drive with both. you can get adapters for about £3-5 tho to convert a SATA to IDE or vice versa. have some myself to connect my old IDE drives to a SATA port

Are you sure that it had both SATA and IDE data connections? Most drives have SATA and ordinary molex power connections but I haven't heard of a dual data connection drive either I'm afraid. Good luck finding one though.

I doubt such a drive existed, TBH.

I think you're getting confused with the power-connector - some drives still have a standard power molex connector as well as SATA power connector.

Certainly not the data connector, however.

That said, you can buy a converter.

Hi,
I think I may have been wrong about both data cable options - I haven't found anything yet.

Is there a IDE>Sata data cable? I can't seem to find anything, just the power cable.
