HDDs to use usb 3.0

when will this happen or will current 2.0 hdds automatically benefit once inserted to a usb 3.0 on your pc, sory i don't understand. Also i heard somthing about extrnal ssds as storage devices possibly in the future, whats your thoughts
 
I used an ocz ssd as an external for a while, worked rather well.

The next standard of usb will be backwards compatible, but your usb 2 hard drives will not operate any quicker when connects to it. If you want it to be quicker, esata is faster than the drive itself and widely available. I recommend this.

USB2, 3, or esata are just interfaces. You'll find the same drive or ssd inside any one of them.
