What's the cheapest card with HDMI 2.0 output? Got a low end 4k TV but my gtx780 only does 30hz at full res, I wanted a giant (40") desktop for some GUI heavy apps so game performance isn't important.

Stay away from anything badged AMD is you're looking for HDMI 2.0 support ;)

Good question as most all of the ocuk listings do not state which version of hdmi is on the cards, apart from a couple which state 1.4.
Shame about the troll answer above.

ps looks like its a choice between the 970 and 980's ?

Shame about the troll answer above.

How is it a troll answer?

is it the truth? yes as even the latest top end AMD cards do not have HDMI 2.0 support

Oh right, anyone saying anything negative about AMD is considered trolling. :D

The OP asked for the cheapest card with HDMI 2 support, I do not know which of the cheaper Nvidia cards support HDMI 2.0 apart from the 970, 980 series but these are not exactly cheap.

As the others have said, currently only Nvidia's Maxwell cards support HDMI 2.0, so you're currently limited to Titan X, 980Ti, 980, 970 and 960 until Nvidia roll the architecture out to lower end cards too.

AMD and Intel currently don't support HDMI 2.0 (I know Intel don't do discrete cards, but for the price of a 960 it might have been cheaper to get a new low-end CPU and MB if they supported it)

Why is a fact a troll answer?

Why is a fact a troll answer?
Because it doesn't answer the question properly, focuses on negative rather than positive, the tone with the smiley indicates it more intended to be a joke / off the cuff post than any sort of proper answer?

It's not a troll post since it is factual and technically it's informative towards discussing what to avoid along with being on topic but there's probably a hint of troll in there with the follow up comment too. Trolls can post facts designed to rile people up too so that doesn't really stop it being a troll post but in this case it's just a little trollish or even just a joke and not a real troll post.

Don't think there are any DP/mDP to HDMI 2.0 adapters actually out in the wild yet. I know there have been a few announced as "coming soon" but don't remember any actually being available to buy. Happy to be corrected if anyone knows of any you can buy. :)

There isn't, i checked and it seems all the current ones are fake and only do HDMI 1.4. The 2D speed is pretty much the same on all the nvidia gaming cards isn't it, its the 3d you're paying for as you go up the line.

It is a troll remark, because of the way its worded. It's set up as bait! He could have just suggested the nvidia cards which supported HDMI 2.0 but instead had to say stay away from anything AMD if you want HDMI 2.0 support.

If it was me i would have just said AFAIK AMD don't currently have any cards with HDMI 2.0 support so your best of looking at nVidia cards im afraid. Not so trolly!

Wow this thread is full of retard O.o I congratulate you FireFox on your trolling ability - you have a page of people arguing whether you were even trolling or not! That's the ultimate trollcomplishment :P (btw for anyone who didn't notice, it was a clear dig at AMD subtly done)

To the OP, I think only the 970 and above have HDMI 2.0 but I can't actually find anything clearly stating it. You can run 4k@60Hz on older nVidia cards through 1.4 in a sort-of clever chroma bodge job - have to admire nVidia for that one.
There's supposedly a DP to HDMI2.0 adapter floating about but who knows when that's coming or where it is. That'll help to the AMD cards that don't have any 2.0 capability.

You AMD fanboys crack me up LOL

You are the one's trolling here, the OP asked for a card that supported HDMI 2, all I did was state AMD cards do not support HDMI 2 as he may not of been aware that AMD cards do not have this feature, is that my fault?

Talk about hypocrites :D:p:D

I think we should all start listing all the cards that do not have HDMI 2.0, to help narrow down the choice for the OP. ;)

Or perhaps we could answer the question asked.

It looks like the gtx950 is best, it should be low power enough to run with the gtx780 on my 620w psu, from googling it's supposed to be out on monday.
