Yeah, less stress for all involved, and I can personally vouch for those reported reliability issues! Which is so bloody stupid as cables are so integral for everything to work; and they're such a necessary part of modern tech, that you'd think in 2025, they'd basically be bulletproof, but no.

And BMS - not quite. I actually did meet another person with the surname Rose (think his first name might have been Alan...funny the things you remember) who went there IIRC many years ago, and actually ALMOST DID go there on a bursary/scholarship (went through the testing, for site tours etc, passed those entry exams etc by my understanding, but it never quite came together for a couple of reasons.) Honestly funny you mention it, as it was so long ago now I'd not thought about it for quite some time. My life would probably have been very different if I had! Guessing you may have known the other guy?

I ended up in schooling/sixth form in Leighton Buzzard and MK for my sins lol
There is also another guy with the exact same first/last name as me, who works in the same industry as I do, who now works for BT, but I was in the industry a few years prior so am technically his senior - that's also caused a bit of confusion over the years, especially as its not such a common name combo - funny world

I could be remembering wrong, and it might actually have been Alex I met - it was best part of 30 years ago now. They asked him to give me the tour etc BECAUSE he had the same surname etc, and maybe he did have the same first name, I just don't remember it!
I'm a 1987'r so would be in the year below, it'd actually make a lot of sense we're talking about the same guy haha

And yeah, not that common a name combo, so a funny coincidence (and same as the guy in BT but he's younger than either myself or your Alex)!
