HDMI audio question

Hi,

A friend has a Dell Vostro 260MT and wants to link it up to their 32" screen to play games.

He was going to get a 1GB AMD Radeon HD 6450 card and connect via HDMI but I dont think this allows audio does it?

If this is the case, can anyone recommend a cheapish card that would provide what he wants to do? Don't really want to go down the VGA/audio route.

Thanks

It should be just fine mate for audio. All my 5800 series cards pass audio as did my old 3650.

He will just need to make sure that he changes the sound configuration in windows to pass audio via the card as opposed to speakers

yeah it should pass the audio fine , a question id like to ask is there a way to have audio pass through the card via HDMI and have it transmit through the pc speakers at the same time ?

Seeing the subject of the thread I might as well ask something I've been wondering.

Is it possible to pass audio through mini-HDMI (such as on an nVidia GPU) to an amplifier, and if you can, are the results similar to that you'd get from regular HDMI?

Thanks for the responses. Proves better advice than Dell who advised audio could not pass through this particular card!
