hdmi cable / pricing

I was looking to get a 3m HDMI cable, went in to a well known electircal shop. £119 !? I thought there was no difference in quality with HDMI cables?!

There is a difference in quality between different versions and if you're running an extra long cable (but then you'ld be better off with boosters anyway).

It is pretty terrible that companies like Monster make people pay so much when they need not...

many peeps are stupid enough i have a few relatives thats splashed out up wards of £400 on cabling for their av gear.

i tend to buy from either http://www.bluejeanscable.com/ or http://markgrantcables.co.uk/ both sell cables more than regular no brands one you can buy. but when connecting both my 360 or ps3 via hdmi i got kinda a chicken wire efect. markgrants 3m one had no such issues. youll find some decent ones in the clearance section

Not all HDMI cables are made equal.

Buy one with the certification you want (1.0, 1.3a, 1.4 or whatever), for the length you want.

Don't buy into any extra fluff.

I actually received an email from a well known hi-fi store telling me:

DON'T FORGET
A quality HDMI lead will improve the 'handshake' time between your high-definition units and TV, leading to superior response times, particularly over longer distances.
