Hi,

I have recently bought a Panasonic TH42PZ80B Plasma TV and have SkyHD on order and need a HDMI cable to connect them up.

I've been looking around for HDMI cables and have seen that you can 1.5m cables from £5 to £100.

Does anyone have any advise on buying HDMI cables? What are the main differences apart from price? Do I need to make sure I get a specific type/grade of cable for 1080p viewing?

Many thanks in advance,

James

They include a HDMI cable in the box, so you will not need to buy one if you are having SkyHD installed. :)

And if you should need spare HDMI cables then just buy 3 or so off ebay.

All the cables I have in my system are less than a fiver, and none have put a foot wrong. Even if they do go wrong then just get a few more cheap ones. For most peoples setups this is the way I would recommend it.

If you do end up needing some get some gold plated ones from rainforest market place. For under £5inc.. Often 1p + £3.49 postage

I love that site for small items like this. Often cheaper and more secure than the bay.

When you get an amp for Dolby Digital you'll also need an optical cable because for some reason Sky HD doesn't send it over HDMI!?

Thread Hijack: I need a 10m HDMI cable. The one I have messes up my splitter signal from downstairs. Can someone advise me of a good / reasonable priced one to get?
