HDMI Cables

But I'm yet to see a cable with "HDMI 2.1" written on it.

I have one that is definitely a 2.1, says "Ultra High speed " on it.

OcUk sold me one, described as 2.1 but said just "High speed " on it and that mirrors my old HDMI cable maybe 1.0 or 2.0.
 
Officially licensed HDMI 2.1 cables should have the Ultra label stamped on them but not all do probably so they don't have to pay, most just say 8K UHD.

Ah so ocuk sold me a 2.0 cable and it's described as 2.1 on their site:o. It's now going to cost me to return it , not fair :confused:
 
The item advertises support for 4k but not 8k, does the v2.1 mean revision of the cable rather than the hdmi standard it meets, if so perhaps OCUK could add something to that effect in the item description or just remove the v2.1 description

Not if the 2.1 refers to the revision (redesign) of a lower standard hdmi rather than the cable being an actual 2.1 hdmi standard cable.
So if the company designed a hdmi 2 cable, and then decided to redesign the hdmi 2 cable it would be revision 2 of the hdmi 2 cable, its still a hdmi 2 cable, just redesigned, it isn't a 2.1 hdmi standard cable eg they could change the colour of the cable . Then if they redesigned the version 2 of the hdmi 2 cable eg by changing the colour of the cable again it is now version 2.1 of the hdmi 2 cable. Changing say the colour of a hdmi 2 cable and calling it v2.1 of the hdmi 2 cable doesn't make it meet the standard of a hdmi 2.1 specification cable, all that is changed in this example is the colour of the cable
 
Whether it works.

Digital cables are pretty straightforward. They either work or they don't. If you get a black screen or even occasional black screens, then your cable is not good enough.

yea i get it but thats a bit of a con. i was refering to hdmi 2.1 :)
