I am looking to buy and wall mount a new 'telly' (maybe SAMSUNG PS50Q7HDXXEU (P) or SAMSUNG LE46M51 (LCD) not sure which one yet. Are there such things as hdmi and component faceplate's to enable the whole job to 'look' nicer. Or an 'all in one' solution.

Done google but it comes up with mainly US 'stuff', just want a neat and tidy finish...............

Thanks in advance

Yes, thanks for that - anyone used these items before? Do you just run normal HDMI cable between the two faceplates?

Surely the whole idea of wall mounting is to hide all the cables, so why would you need wallplates to "make it look nicer"?
Run the cables through trunking or conduit, buried in the wall. Fit a metal or plastic backbox at each end of the trunking, hidden behind the TV at the top, and behind your AV rack at the bottom. Run your cables through the backbox and down the trunking. Once all the components are in place, you won't see the boxes, so no need for wallplates.

It is worth running a separate spur for mains power, with a socket behind your TV.
Running straight signal cables, with no extra plugs/sockets, will give you better picture quality.

it does sound a lot of work for a home system. You will need to wire in (solder maybe?) a length of hdmi cable behind the face plates(these faceplates are female fittings) AND you will need two hdmi cables, one from the DVD player to the first faceplate and one from the second faceplate to the TV, and they would have to be very short cables to keep the whole thing neat

Thanks for the comments I think I agree now, I just didnt want a 'hole' in the wall sort of thing. Even though I wouldnt see me it would 'bug' me, if that makes sense.

You know the bristles you get on letter boxes (for your front door)?

Well use those on the hole in the wall, looks smarter than just a hole.

You can fit a wallplate with a hole onto the backbox to tidy things up. You can use a blank wallplate, and drill your own hole for the cables to pass through, or you can get plates with holes and brush strips (the stuff Tesla suggested) pre-fitted.
