Hi chaps,

this is a problem I have with trying to get sound via the hdmi from my ati radeon 5570 card to my TV.

I have looked at sound devices in the control panel (win7 64 bit), and the relevant tab says - ATI high definiton audio device not plugged in.

when I click on the tab, the "set default" stays greyed out.

Trawled through other forums, nobody seems to know how to fix this problem.

All I want to do is transmit video and audio through the hdmi cable to the TV.

Anyone know a solution??

If it is an LG TV, under your HDMI port you might need to change the setting from PC to TV, or back.
Mine was like this, as I flick through the input options when settling upon dvi or hdmi a click to the right changes the configuartion between pc input and tv input, one gives my vplus box sound the other is silent.

DVI in on your TV will fail also, as it won't carry sound, so it needs to be a full HDMI port.

Try right clicking on the speaker icon on the tool bar and choose play back devices. This should enable you to choose the HDMI port.

Only way I could get the HDMI to show anything other than "not plugged in" was to go to the monitor section of control panel and set both TV and Monitor to Duplicate Monitors or Extend Monitors.

It now shows as being "enabled" however I can't get any sound out of it. Gave up and using the mobo onboard optical - although this is causing game freezing and sound looping.
