Hi all,
having issues with my mac mini and HDMI output. Let me set the scene by saying I have the TV connected to 3 sources (sky hd, 1080p upscaling dvd player, and the mac mini, in 1920x1080 over vga) and it looks great on all settings. The TV is a Sony KDL40W3000.
The VGA output from the mac has some slight diagonal "banding" effect. Looks like a slight brightness distortion in diagonal lines - it's not unwatchable, but thought I'd change to HDMI to get the best picture possible.
However, running over HDMI made the picture almost TOO sharp - round the edge of text, for instance, is a bit of a "halo" effect. It looks like it's been pushed through a photoshop sharpen filter.
Anyone have any ideas? I have the same settings for all HDMI channels, and the other inputs look fine. Could it be the cable or DVI to HDMI converter, or is there a setting on the Mac I should tweak to make the HDMI output look right?
Thanks in advance
