Can someone please recommend me a decent price (around £10-£20) unit that will allow me to run both my Sky HD box and my PS3 to 2 different displays without having to switch any of the screens off. And hopefully without too much loss of quality?

Got a feeling this will be a challenge.

If the device is doing the job right then it won't lose any quality. The risk is that it won't talk to one device or another. If buying at the bottom end of the price range that's a chance you have to take.

£10-£20 is too big a stretch even for Ebay. £22 - £25 seems to be the lowest price for a brandless powered Chinese box.

The gear I use and supply has to be bullet-proof because my clients want to use their setups without any hitches. That kind of reliability costs a lot... £200-£300 for something that will take 2 sources and show one or the other on two different TVs.

For DIY AV installations I have something more affordable that I know works reliably in most cases as long as the TVs are the same resolution. It's £60. You could find similar on the South American Rain Forest website.

another vote for the neet

Neet® - 2 Way HDMI SPLITTER BOX 1x2 Port (1 input 2 output)

I have one splitting for a TV (2m cable) and projector (12m cable), just plug it in and it works, it's about £25

Cablesson® - 2 Way HDMI SPLITTER BOX 1x2 Port (1 input 2 output) - Active Amplifier - v1.3c *NEW VERSION WITH 3D* -1080p Full HD - Display HD on 2 TV

Using this to split output from amp to tv and pj - well recommended

oops didnt read properly - ignore me

I had this headache a year or so ago as i needed to feed a signal to a 720p TV and a 1080p projector. In the end it worked out cheaper to upgrade my amp to one with dual outputs than buy a dedicated hdmi switch
