Just a quick one.

I have some spare 200mbps powerline adapters.

Can I get a HDMI signal splitter, split one HDMI out from the V+ feeding it into a HDMI->Cat 5 Convertor, plug it into the Ethernet over powerline adapter, out the other end back into HDMI, and then into the TV in another room?

Maybe I'm being hopeful, but would be good to know if its doable

No, or yes.

Helpful, I know.

The quick answer is no, HDMI over Cat5 uses the same cables as ethernet, but they aren't compatible technologies. You can't just push the HDMI signal into a powerline and expect it to come out the same at the other end, and your plugs don't know how to convert it to a format which can be.

The slower answer is "it depends how determined you are" - there are ways to do it, but probably (almost certainly) not with your current adapters. There are such things as HDMI over IP and HDMI over powerline, but they're expensive, new and relatively untested.

Thanks for the reply, appreciated.

So, based on the fact I'm in a rented flat, with no way to pipe the v+ feed via internal coax networks what is my best option to get the signal from my lounge to the bedroom?

HTPC at the lounge end with a video in and a media streamer at the other end of powerlines? basically converting hdmi to ip traffic. HTPC at lounge end could obviously be used for it's "proper" purpose too (ie playing blurays/downloads etc)
