HDMI: video working, no sound. help!

Hey

Happy new year,

i currently have a acer 5739g, it has HDMI output. When i connect it to the tele i get a perfect picture, but theres no sound when movie files are played.

Ive tried changing the sounds settings under the control panel and ive had no luck.

any suggestions please ;)
 
When you say "sound settings", you mean the default output device within the Sound properties of your machine yeah? :) Just checking :D.
 
Running Windows 7?

I had something similar on my Dell Studio 15. Here's my fix:

Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Manage Audio Devices

Right-click on the 'ATI HDMI Output' item and select 'Set as Default Device'
 
Aye memohis, there are HD realtek setting and the default output setting in the control panel.

Jonnyt im using vista at the moment. ive done exactly what you suggested, but nothing seems to be working :(
