HDMi 1.3 is fine, I have 3D devices working absolutely fine on HDMI 1.3 cables.
I would completely agree that going for HDMI cables with solid connections is worth a couple of quid for sure. I find that looking for a cheapish cable with a bunch of very positive user reviews usually means you are onto a winner (the OCUK value HDMI cables for example are great).
One thing I would like to point out is What Hi Fi's database of HDMI cable reviews. Man, there are many lols to be had here.

Scam the UK, The Halk way!no its not. 1.4 guarantees 3d, 1.3 might not. 1.4 does ARC and ethernet. 1.3 does not.
then you must have good quality cables. 1.3 isnt guaranteed to carry the signal. also, what type of 3d is it? there are a few types IIRC
