Thats it though, If its as simple as point and shoot and walk its not a big deal, setting up is the worry.

If you're worried go with a mate, avoid quiet and dodgy areas and if you're on your own just be confident. If you're out late and you get any comments most of them will be ****** up people out for the night that are just trying to be funny. A bit of humorous banter usually works better than a **** off.

I've shot at various times of day on my own around Liverpool and I've been ok. I've got to go out this week and do the Xmas lights around the buildings. I'm not really worried.

As far as I am concerned. If there is an photograph I want, I will go out and get it. In the last 2 years I have wondered around a un populated park as early as 1am or for several hours spanning from 3:30 am / 9:00am (XMAS DAY!! drunk!!, COLD! Regular members will remember the images I posted almost 1 year ago)

Hey CyKey, it's Liverpool and things like that disapear all the time

I like your shots, I was hoping that the replacement for the Canon G6 (the G7) would have RAW facility and I could have dabbled in HDR.

I've been around Liverpool City Centre and the outskirts at different times of the day and, like cykey, had no problem. The most I get is people asking what I'm photographing or kids jumping in front of the camera because they think it's going in the papers.
