HDR ??

If you read Cykeys guide in post number 2 it basically explains that there are 2 ways to make a HDR image, one is from 3 shots taken of the same scene but with different exposures or photomatix can also make HDRs out of single RAW files as well. For best results you want 3 shots, -2, 0, +2.

You can also make them from jpegs but often the results are pretty poor.

I have never really got to grips with HDR, I dont try it very often but those that I have done wouldnt touch a lot of the stuff you see on here.

Anyone want to kindly send me a raw picture for me to try this on. As I wont be able to go out and take any raw picture till tmr or day after

You can still use JPEG's but the quality won't be as good.

This started life as a JPEG, shot through glass on the London Eye

Some of mine.

I didn't have any proble (Or choice!) in using JPG's

All taken as 3 seperate jpg's -2 / 0 / +2 on a Canon G7.

God it hard to do... cant get colour right at all like you lot manage to do unless my images are rubbish

This is a quick job. Im going out in 5 mins but this is the kinda thing you can expect.

Im not into HDR much so someone else will probably do a spot on job.

Reason why please? To be honest I have found that HDR can spoil the pictures, well has to some of what i have taken

The main purpose for doing HDR processing is to increase the range of light stops.
Your image doesn't have any clipped highlights or large areas in shadow so doing it as a HDR is not going to improve it.

I did a subtle Photomatix HDR version (but I don't think it did anything that couldn't have been achived with a curves tweak).

Then did a colour selection mask on the reddy/yellow area of the middle/left then a midtone colour balance adjustment to add yellow & red.

Then a levels adjustment layer to add contrast to the sky and used a graduation mask to mask out the land.

I've got a 19mb layered tiff you can have if you've got somewhere i can upload it?

Well It is in the Peak District but up on the hills from Hathersage
