HDR10+

I'm sitting on the wall looking into both camps - wallet paralysis -
but, if you read above article they have again significantly changed 2018 oled panel structure for lifespan.

Ironically there seem to be a number of comments too eg here,
here , of streaming content apple/netflix/bbc (not uhd disc) having high/incorrect black levels, that do not enable oled to be fully exploited if you view in a dark environment.
(the dilema of providing one stream to satisfy SDR/hdr10/dv needs, with tone mapping in the receiving app)

Hi all,

thanks for all the comments and advice, apologies for forgetting about the thread.

I do get wallet paralysis!
I think I just fear spending £1k on the wrong tech, then it not getting HDR10+ in the update, or something else is obsolete.

I like the price of the 49 inch 7 series samsung, but my brain keeps screaming wait for oled or qled to be closer to £1k.
I am just waiting for now, tv is 10 years old this year (6 series samsung lcd) so I expect it to break and buy a tv at a bad time. hah!

In the end I decided not to go the OLED route.
Even with a "minimal" chance of image burn/retention, I don't find that acceptable. Sure I can read lots of "no problems here" posts - lets all hope there are still as many 2-3 years down the line.
I've decided OLED is just too much in infancy. I tend to replace my main TV every 5-6 years, so my thinking being that in that time scale either OLED will be a perfect technology, or something else (micro LED possibly) will be and I'll change technology then.
I took delivery of my Sony 9305 on Friday and once it's on the wall tomorrow I'll hopefully enjoy the very best performance from LCD. I know it won't be quite on par with the OLED's I could have purchased for quite a small premium, but I also know that in 5-6 years time I definitely won't be looking at any image burn/retention.
