HDTV - wow

Absolutely blown away by HDTV. We just bought a cheapish antenna to pick up the free HDTV broadcasts, just out of curiousity (I'm in the USA, by the way...) and my jaw hit the ground at the quality. I was really skeptical - thought it wouldn't really be that much better than DVD quality. But, my god, it makes DVD look like a 10 year old VHS tape! Even the wife was in raptures.

To anybody who's trying to decide on going HD or not - do it! It's like somebody has washed your eyes out!

EDIT: Just for the record, this was on a Samsung 720p widescreen.

If you simply download an sd trailer and a hd trailer from the apple website you can see the huge difference.

yeah the difference is pretty big. got sky hd and i love it.

Of course I knew it would be an improvement, but actually seeing it on the TV itself still blew me away.

But when deciding which way to go for DVD's do you make the move to HD DVD's or Blu-Ray? As Blu-Ray seems to be the big thing now. :eek:

HD DVD has been discontinued; you can pick up some bargins but there's no future in it.
