I am going to buy a samsung HDTV soon, either 26" or 32" (prob 32" :D ) and i have a question about it.

well first off i am buying it mainly for my Xbox 360 so i can get the best out of it. But i have heard of connecting Tv's to PC's and would the HDtv connect to my pc when i have Twin 7800GT's 256mb?

If so what would i need to make this work?

Your new TV will have a VGA connector, you can use that. Or it'll have a HDMI connector, you can use a DVI->HDMI Cable.

I think even new Sammy HDTV's require use of vga port to get 1:1 pixel mapping

I know my 32R41BDX does and I seem to recall the newer R71 range do also

I was in Makro last night buying some speakers and I was looking at all the HDTVs and HD LCD TVs. The £999.99 HD TVs had utterly pants (blurry, stretched, washed-out colour) picture quality compared to the £499.99 HD LCD TVs which had incredibly sharp picture and vibrant colour, I can't understand why people buy HD TVs at all anymore.

i recently bought the samsung 32" hd lcd and it works just fine on the PC.

The resolution fits perfect. It has standard vga input, svideo and hdmi.

I've been using the vga cable and it looks great but as someone else said a DVI-HDMI cable would be even better

The problem in the shops is where they use splitters to port the signal to multiple TVs which in turn decreases the quality . Thats why it looks so crap.

DVI is digital, Vga is analogue.

Same as you'd rather connect a DVI cable up to your computer montitor than a VGA. I expect you wont notice a huge difference though

So why didn't the LCDs look crap?

They were "electrically" nearer the signal source??

Very probable reason

Also the cheaper sets had lower quality screens / panels therefore the awful quality of the SD tv signal (even on freeview) wouldnt be so evident.

Get a decent DVD, or even better HiDef signal and you would see the opposite result ( educated guess)

Who would buy a quality peice of equipment from makro????

I know I wouldnt

yeh ive had loads of problems with small electrical goods from there, like remote control cars and stuff, are we allowed to talk about cash and carrys, if not then please delete but you have to own a business to shop there

Well considering I used to work there, so the RRP £130 5.1 140 peak watts speakers I bought came to a total of £44, I think it is worth buying from there no?

Not sure TBH, they had them set up in a random order like this along the row; HD, HD, LCD, HD, LCD, HD HD, LCD LCD, HD etc. The HDs looked good but in comparison to the LCDs they looked really poor.

Nope, I dont think there would be one with the 1900xt, but there might be a DVI-VGA oconverter which might enable you to you to use the VGA port on the TV.

If you don't have the capability to use cables you already own then I'd recommend going for the DVI-HDMI cable but I don't know if OCUK sell these or not?

buying cheap speakers is one thing, a large investment like a HDTV I would always go with proper Electrical outlets myself

I would also guess that all the models in makro are LCD's - just some are SD and some are HD, but I can gaurentee thats why the SD looked better because of the terrible signal we are used to from TV

LOL? I wouldn't call Logitech X-530s with an RRP of £130 cheap. I just got them cheap due to Makro being a wholesale cash and carry and still getting employee discounts.

There's nothing wrong with Makro at all, tons of small businesses that sell stuff to people like us buy their stuff from them in the first place, and their product handling is usually quite well. The only bad thing about Makro is the management.

I've got the 26" samsung LCD HDTV and it's great through the VGA port, intend to use the DVI-HDMI maybe, not sure.. if i get a PS3 I will have it connected to the HDMI and there's no way i'm swapping plugs around all the time..
But anyway.. in my opinion samsung are in a class of their own with their LCD screens. Almost every retailer i go to that has a selection of LCD tv's all running the HD demo, the samsung has the best looking picture.

£130 for 6 speakers amp etc is definitely cheap as chips lol

You catn get a decent 2nd hand 5.1 amp (let alone the speakers ) for £130

Most of makro's stuff ( unless they have changed their suppliers ) are much like woolies in that they are chinese or other eastern 2nd or third tier companies, maybe ok for a 2nd or third tv but not where I would go for the primary source myself
