I'll start by saying yes I am a child killer blah blah blah

Got tugged today by an unmarked merc for doing 45 in a 30, two lane dual carrageway 50 feet!!!! before it turns to a 40. was doing the speed limit just before and traffic cleared totally on the outside lane so just put my foot down to over take the slower traffic that was traveling on the inside lane and as it was also turning into a 40.

Typical good cop bad cop act, good cop liked the car and was stand up bloke other copper was a bit of a tit, and didn't seem happy that I was almost spot on with his braking distance trivia quiz. Was very tempted to ask him if he knew the braking distance of an M3 from 60 as it is a damn site shorter than the distance for 50mph in the highway code ;) though better of it and did the normal respectful naughty boy thing.

Anyway had a friendly chat about new road tax charges and was all humble and apologetic, did feel a bit of a fool with everyone watching :( and got off with a warning and a 7 day wonder :)

Got home and warned my flatmate who said "too late they stung me yesterday for 41 in a 30 (same place just before the 40) and he got 3 points :p

Probably didn't like his Mr2 ;)

That sucks, but i guess the law is the law, and you broke it. So your preety lucky getting off that easily.

True true

If I got points from it then I wouldn't moan too much, as I did break the law, the fact they lurk just before a speed change is the bit that annoys me.

Still not like I tried to race them, only a fool would do that, especially if it was a volvo T5 ;) *ahem

Dead right!

But then you can just rub it in that he got points as punishment and you didnt :D

Several members of this forum don't like me considering my history with speeding, (I can name a few and their comments in my most recent thread  ) but I'll just add this...

If you're polite and nice to the officer, you'll get off a LOT lighter than if you're an arsey chav trying to act big in front of his mates.

I certainly have learnt from my mistakes though and stick to the limits a lot more than I used to.

Glad you got off with it Steve. :) There are still some decent cops out there.

or ------- you could just NOT speed

If it wasn't for speeders this country would be over run with children , just think how much Council tax would have to go up to pay for the extra schools/teachers .

;)

Where about was it mate? I know whereabouts you live as I pop round Skywalkers quite a lot. Generally I know that the main undercover lot around us are silver mercs, a gunmetal evo, and some variant of a people carrier as well as the usual plethora of omega's, 406's and volvo's.

You know, I never realised that. Good thinking :D

awwww did i upsaet some speeders by saying the obvious?
its this simple dont speed you wont get done, no more speed cameras to complain about
you all complain but in a away you made them be there by speeding and then paying the fine.

Maybe the problem isn't the cameras it's the wholly unsuitable speed limits?

Slight attitude problem then?

I like driving fast. I constantly drive faster than certain speed limits. Just the other day I was doing 60mph on the Coventry ringway. No children died, no plagues of locusts swarmed over the land, and nobody was upset by it. Apart from the driver of the bodykitted Corsa who was subjected to the pain of losing a race off the lights to a 39bhp Fiat, but I'm fairly certain he'll get over it.

Yes, I was breaking the law. Yes, I was doing a good chunk over the speed limit. Was I going inappropriately fast? Well - it was bone dry, my car is in rather good condition on the tyre and mechanical front, I'm halfway competent behind the wheel, there were very few other cars about and it was a dual carriageway with enough concrete either side to contain even the most spectacular crash. And at 60mph I don't think my Fiat has quite enough energy to smash through all that.

Speeding doesn't kill. Crap driving, part failure, and inappropriate speed for the conditions can kill. And inappropriate speed can be 15mph if conditions dicate it.

Now if you'll excuse me, someone has just pulled up outside in his new Alfa. We're off to go break some speed limits.
