I'm bald.

I currently use some hair trimmers at the lowest setting (no idea what mm that is) to cut my hair.

I don't think I'm ready to go full cue ball look, but I would like a slightly closer cut.

I've seen lots of 'skulls shavers' being advertised to me on social media, but I have no idea what is good and what is not.

What does every bald person on here use to shave their head? What's my best option if I want a really close shave but not just skin showing? Or should I just embrace the shiny head?

Thanks

I used a Philips face shaver to shave my head but the blades went blunt quickly. Now I just use a Gillette sensor 3 disposable shaver with some shave foam. Needs to be shaved every three days really as it grows back quick but I do it once a week.

I am not fussy when it comes to clippers. Standard £13-£15 supermarket ones work for me, number 2.

I did used to have some branded ones but i found even if you cleaned them and kept them oiled they always used to fail on me.

Didn't we have this exact thread a couple of months ago?

Maybe. I searched 'bald' and didn't find what I needed so just thought I'd post.

Hmmm, maybe the clippers I have are fine then. I thought there might be something to get it a little shorter without being completely skinhead.

I use Remington Quick Cut. Cost 25 quid. Been used once a week-ish for 3 years. Battery lasts ages and apart from putting some oil on it, zero maintenance or other issues.

I used to use a pair of Wahl clippers, but about four years ago I got suckered in by one of those Skull Shaver Pitbull ads and bought one. I've not touched my clippers since as it's so much easier and faster. A quick whip over every couple days for a few minutes is all it takes to keep mine nice and short.

Nothing beats a razor for a close shave. I also use a babyliss pro foil shaver which is great but is practically as short as a razor, so may be too short for yours needs.

I used to use a Wahl balding clipper too, which was as short as I could ever get with hair clippers, about 1-2mm with no guard.

Wahl Balding clippers with no guard, just go slow and careful and stop if it gets really hot.

Its worth watching videos of how to zero-gap clippers like barbers do to get good results.

I have used plug-in clippers for the last 6 years that cost £13 at the time from Argos, which served me very well (0 grade, no attachment).

Last week got one of those '7d head shaver' things from amazon for £25 purely out of intrigue. The shave is bloody fantastic, no mess as it all goes into the head (which needs a wash out after!), and the shave itself is somewhere between 'biccing' and a standard 0 grade shave.

It may well break next week but for now I'm impressed and would recommend it.

My friend originally linked me one of the significantly more expensive skull shavers, no way am I paying that amount just for a head shave :D

I bought a Remington RX7 last year. Game changer. Just give it a quick going over every couple days, job done. Doesn't drop clippings or anything so you can do it while you're sat on a particularly thrilling teams call.

So much easier and closet than clippers. Much less faff than a razor, although obviously not quite as close.

Skull shavers will give you a bald look. I use a Remington RX7 leaves your head nice and smooth. Using a moisturiser on it afterwards is also lovely.

I went guard free for about 10 years but a few years ago I started using skull shavers I far prefer it.

Just buy a a tin of shaving foam and some disposable razors. A closer shave and better for the skin than any electric shaver/clippers.

No need for any fancy/expensive tech!

remington rx7 jobbie if im in a rush. gillette skinguard (2 blades, big gaps) if i want to do it properly. some philips cordless trimmer (old now) if i've left what little is left too long between shaves.

Spooky, I came back to the thread to ask the exact same question. I use clippers to take mine down to a 1-2, but it's so easy to miss patches when you're doing it yourself. The new-fangled skull shavers seem like a great design, but I don't want to go full on hooligan*.

*If only. What I actually look like with a shaved head is a borderline survivor of a serious illness.

I use one of these, its superb
