I've got a bit of free time tomorrow, and so am gonna try setting out very early in the hope of getting a few decent early morning shots. I'm in north London and so the first places that spring to mind are Alexandra Palace and Hamstead Heath - maybe see if I can get a few early light pics of the city.

Forecast says the cloud should hold off until 9am, so I'll have a fair bit of time before the overcast sets in.

What shots do you think I should be looking for at this time of day? What shots have worked for you before? e.g. frost/dew on grass etc. actual sunrise shot/ silhouette.

Any advice?

Well I got up this morning to find it was foggy...not what I was expecting! Decided to take a drive anyway and see what I could find. Arrived at Hamstead Heath, swapped the wide angle zoom for a nifty fifty, and began snapping. It's the first time I've tryed taking photos in the mist/fog and the first time I've tried shooting in RAW, so I wasn't really sure what effects I should be trying and achieve. Anyway, here are a few of the better ones....

The fog took so much colour out of these two scenes that I thought I might as well take a bit more out. I like the unsaturate feel.

i like the 3rd from the bottom, good foreground interest and i like how you can just see the tree in the background :)

Worth getting up for I'd say. I wish we got more fog round these parts :)

We get nice colours in the morning during winter, half of the year its hot and the good light is gone within 5 minutes after sunrise.

When I saw the first shot I though "aw shame the angle isn't perfect", then I saw the second from last. Still not quite the right angle for my personal taste, but a nice shot all the same :)
