Hi guys.

In summary:

Honda accord gen 7 (2003).

Headlight bulb failed.

H1 bulb type.

Wasn't happy with headlight brightness anyway (not a patch on the xenons on my previous car).

Recommendations?

LED possible?

Thanks

Look for some LED bulbs, I use a set from Horizion LEDs on my bike and they're brilliant.

I was considering it but I was told that they have a heatsink which fits outside of the headlamp (in the engine bay) and that there might not be room for fitting them.

That is the downside if you've not got a lot of room, there are versions which use a foil type bendable heatsink which might fit if clearance is a bit tight.

LED bulbs must have come on a bit then, the last time I saw them as an aftermarket bulb in a Halogen unit they were about as bright as my phone torch.

I heard recently Halfords will swap all your bulbs to get rid of any dim one's :D

I only just swapped a 501 sidelight bulb for a halfords one and it's badly dim already. I'd prefer to go LED but without a specific recommendation I'm not willing to risk it in case it's rubbish.

All the h1's for sale appear to be 55W. Aren't there brighter ones?

Ring http://www.ringautomotive.com/ do a range of extra bright standard wattage bulbs. the downside is that they may not last as long (you cant get something for nothing)

Although higher POWER bulbs are also available (Up to 160Watt) not only are they not type approved (And therefore illegal for road use) they may also cause your wiring to catch on fire unless you make modifications (eg separate relay switched supply etc)

LED/Hid conversions may also be available, but they are also unlikely to meet type approval unless you change the whole headlight unit.

Thanks ^^.

In that case I just want a nice white bright h1 halogen bulb. Eurocar parts have got a Philips white vision bulb for £20 for the pair with free 501 sidelight bulbs. 30% off this weekend. Sound OK?

Alternatively osram nightbreaker.

Tend to use Osram Nightbreakers. Pretty decent and don't cost too much, the light is much whiter than a standard cheapie bulb too. There are brighter bulbs on the market, but the Nightbreakers fit nicely between price and performance :)

Well according to eurocar parts the Phillips white vision xenon effect twin pack I've just reserved for £13.99 had an rrp of over £60. Nice deal if they are good as they sound.

Marketing at it's finest. Somewhere sometime DFS sofas sell for full price as well :D

Osram nightbreakers. I've used them on every car I've had that's used normal halogen headlamps and they are excellent.

I need some new bulbs after previous xtreme 130% failed last spring. They were good so I may get again, however tempted to try the LED H4 type with braided heat sinks to hopefully help fitment. Any experience with them?
