Hey, i'm new to the forum and sort of new to having a decent computer.
I have a tendency to catch my headphones on my desk chair while on the computer and this time it's caused a problem!

When I plug headphones into the front headphone jack on my computer, nothing happens but when I 'push up' on the headphones while in the computer. The computer recognizes it and allows me to use the jack.
I've now had to tie rope around the headphones when plugged in, so I can listen to stuff! (I've tried a few pairs of headphones)

Is this an internal fault and can it easily be fixed?

Cheers,
Shane

Same thing happened to mine, my nephew got the cord caught in the chair and I was left with a wobbly socket that wasn't connected to anything. You might be able to repair it with a soldering iron if you can get at it but I ended up buying a sound card with a separate headphone socket, so that I didn't have to keep swapping cables.

I ended up with a sound card with a rear headphone socket and I plug my keyboard into that and my headphones into the keyboard. And as my headphones have a coiled lead they never get tangled in anything anymore :)
